Dr. Salyers grew up in Ellsworth, KS and attended Sterling College in Sterling, KS where he obtained a B.S. degree in Biology. He began his medical training at the University of Kansas School of Medicine in Kansas City and completed his clinical training years in Wichita, KS, graduating with a Doctor of Medicine degree in 2003. Following his residency training in Internal Medicine at the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita in 2006, he joined the faculty with KUSM-W Internal Medicine Department as an Assistant Professor.

Prior to starting his fellowship training in Gastroenterology, Dr. Salyers completed a Master of Public Health degree through the University of Kansas School of Medicine and also dedicated additional time working in hospice care prior to obtaining board certification in Hospice and Palliative Medicine. Dr. Salyers completed his fellowship training in Gastroenterology at the University of Florida College of Medicine in Jacksonville, FL in 2011 and returned to the University of Kansas School of Medicine – Wichita where he is currently Chief of the Division of Gastroenterology and Program Director for the Internal Medicine Residency Program
